Ensuring Tomorrow’s Vibrant Future

Dick Huffman creates legacy gift for Salisbury

Salisbury attorney Dick Huffman cares deeply about his hometown. That is why he has entrusted FFTC’s regional affiliate – the Salisbury Community Foundation – with a planned gift, ensuring permanent support for Rowan County’s future needs and opportunities.

A resident since 1994, his Huffman Law Firm is located in vibrant downtown Salisbury in the historic Plaza Building. Dick’s love for his community is evident through his service to numerous organizations that seek to preserve and enhance Salisbury. He has served on the boards of the Historic Salisbury Foundation, the Community Care Clinic and the Rowan Museum Board, among many others.

By entrusting the Salisbury Community Foundation with his planned gift, Dick has ensured financial support of his favorite organizations will extend well after his lifetime. This gift allows the Foundation board to fund vital community needs at their discretion well into the future.

A planned gift is one that originates during your lifetime but is not distributed to FFTC until a future date. Commonly donated through a will or trust, planned gifts are most often granted once the donor has passed away. Some donors choose to designate their planned gift to specific nonprofits or causes they support during their lifetime, while others make unrestricted gifts, enabling Foundation leadership to invest in their community’s greatest needs at that time.

The Salisbury Community Foundation was founded in 1944 by a group of concerned citizens with the common interest of making Salisbury and Rowan County a better place to live. The Salisbury Community Foundation joined forces with Foundation For The Carolinas as a supporting organization in 1995 and became a regional affiliate in 2006. Today the Salisbury Community Foundation has a local board of trustees that provide a county-specific perspective to their annual competitive grant program. In 2016, the board awarded more than $205,000 to local nonprofits such as YMCA of Rowan County, Livingstone College and the Lee Street Theatre.

Wherever you call home, Foundation For The Carolinas and our affiliates can help you establish an enduring legacy, honoring your commitment to the communities and causes you value most for generations to come.
